The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
